For almost 27 years, Whole Earth Provision Co. has supplied Chaco footwear to fellow Texans. They’re one of the first retailers we ever partnered with, way back when Chaco was just a new idea developed by a rafting guide who started selling whitewater sandals  from the trunk of his car. At Chaco, we like going to Whole Earth because it feels like we’re going to a friend’s house to check out his particularly epic gear closet. It’s a place full of southern hospitality, bomber equipment, and uncompromising dedication to local community. So when we upgraded our iconic Z/Sandal with ChacoGrip™ we knew who we could trust to put it to the test: old friends who have known us from the start.

Below is a collection of unedited and unfiltered reviews from our friends at Whole Earth. Scroll down to read up on the full spectrum or just try it out for yourself.

I must admit, I was a bit skeptical about Chaco switching from Vibram outsoles.  After wearing the new Chacos with the ChacoGrip™, I have become a big fan!  I particularly am a fan of the multitude of lugs to keep me from slipping when on the trail.  They’re also spaced nicely so I don’t have a lot of build up on the bottom of my Chacos.  Only time will tell how well the tread lasts, but I haven’t seen any indication that the new ChacoGrip™ is any less durable than the Vibram out-soles.  Overall I am very pleased with the new out-soles and am very excited to try a pair of the new Chacos with the cloud foot bed!

“They are GRRREAT! I have not slipped or fallen, so the ChacoGrip™ is good to me. I love my new Chacos.”

” ChacoGrip™ is awesome. It’s super grippy on all types of surfaces. I don’t slip around on wet stone or concrete, and walking in the rain on the street and stepping up and down on painted curbs are no problem. Walking through running water with rocky bottoms are no problem at all. Chacos are my go-to for standing 8+ hours at work and ChacoGrip™ is perfect, no matter if it is dry or wet! ”

“The ChacoGrip™ is less bulky than my Unaweeps and less squeeky than my Yampas on tile floors. They performed very well on my recent hike on dry land and in the water. The ChacoGrip™ is a good combination of features from both the Yampa and the Unaweep.”

“I think the Chacogrip™ is even better than the Vibram outsoles. The rubber and the pattern on the rubber makes them super grippy. I’ve been hiking situations with them where they seem to perform very well and even better than some of my older Vibram soled Chacos on dry land and through wet situations.”

What are the differences between the Volv and the Cloud? I really like the light weight and softer foot bed of the Volv but interested in what the Cloud has to offer.
