Poor quality not like the old chacos - by , Aug 15, 2019

Received these custom chacos with vibram Colorado sole two months ago and they have already worn through the outsole and is dangerously close to the main sole rubber. I’m stuck in a hard spot because I don’t want to pay to have two month old 130 dollar sandals repaired. I do not wear them daily and this is unacceptable. I wore the same pair of vibram sole Chaco every day during college and they lasted years. Sad day with new chacos...

No Bueno - by , Sep 11, 2019

This is my 8th-ish pair of Chacos and I always order a decorative strap color. This time I went with a custom order with a single color strap. The sandals constantly loosen up. It feels like the buckle won't grab the strap material as it is too smooth. Basically you have to tighten them every 5 min or so. Bummed. I wish I could them re-strapped with a different strap. Love Chacos and I've been wearing them for 15+ years.

There is an easy fix for that! Sometimes putting them in the washing machine to get rid of the extra slickness on the webbing will do the trick. Just be sure to let them air dry. If the discomfort continues please feel free to contact the team at 888.211.9211 ext 2. Thank you.

Dissatisfied - by , Feb 03, 2020

The shoes ended up being one size too big, and the color scheme of the pattern appeared different from how it appeared online. I’m frustrated that I’m not able to return these shoes, since they were quite expensive, and they don’t fit my partner, who I bought them for.

Got the wrong color - by , Apr 13, 2019

I ordered a dark gray, and I’m realizing I was sent the wrong color—light gray. It’s almost silver. Not what I was going for. The straps on mine are too long—when tightened for wear, the buckle is at the heel strap. Wish they would offer shorter straps. I step on the excess all the time. Still super comfortable, and the Colorado sole is the best.

Strap is way too long! - by , Jul 03, 2019

Just bought my 3rd pair of Chaco’s. Bought my first pair 20+ years ago and my second around 10years ago. Both pair wee workhorses, wearing them for my sole footwear weeks at a time. This new pair the straps are ridiculously too long, causing me to avoid wearing them. Looked into it and it appears to be a common complaint. Perhaps Chaco can fix this problem. When I bought my last pair, I wish I would’ve bought 2 pair. For now I’ll continue wearing my old pair that I was hoping to replace.

A step down... - by , Aug 19, 2019

It would spread that Chaco has started to use a much thinner, more flimsy strap than previous generations of sandals. The thin straps dig in and almost have “sharp edges”. These new sandals feel like cheap knock offs of what used to be a great quality product. I’m afraid these won’t hold up to the rigors of life on the river. It’s pretty disappointing to see where Chaco has gone.

Does not stay tight - by , Sep 07, 2019
2/ 5 Stars
I have owned many pairs of Chacos the last 15 years and this is the first pair I have ever had a problem with. The strap that goes through the buckle is thinner than it used to be (I compared it to my previous pair) and it does not stay tight. As a result, I have to tighten them every few minutes or just deal with them being loose. This is quite frustrating if hiking or walking a lot (both of which I do in my Chacos during the summer). I noticed the materials are now imported for the custom version, perhaps they are using lower quality materials than they used to. Sadly, I am very disappointed...I hope this problem gets solved or I will need to seek out another brand.

We're bummed to hear about the issue! We recommend washing your Z/Series sandals in your washing machine. Washing them in cold water, on a gentle cycle, with a mild detergent, and then allowing them to air dry should remove any of the film on the webbing that allows the sandals to self adjust. If this doesn't help, please give our ReChaco team a call at 888-211-9211 ext.

Disappointed - by , Jun 09, 2020

I was in need of a new walking sandal since my last pair finally fell apart after 7 or so years of abuse. After doing a fair amount of research online, and talking with friends, I finally decided on Chacos. I was excited to see that Chaco was in partnership with The Grateful Dead, so I decided to get custom sandals. That was a big mistake. Don't get me wrong, I love the way the sandals look. They have good support, and would probably hold up well if I was just able to wear them. I took the sandals on the treadmill, and noticed some rubbing on my toes. Expecting this from my research, I threw them in the wash to try and soften them up a bit. Seemed to work, so I took them out for a walk on a paved trail. About a mile and a half in on a five mile walk, I felt the heel riser start to creep up toward my ankle bone. No amount of adjusting or fiddling with the straps would stop it. By the end if my walk (all on asphalt) both of my ankles were worn bloody. That was over a week ago from the writing of this review and I still cannot put these sandals on without bandaging my ankles. Whoever decided it was a good idea to make the heel riser adjustable should be fired. From what I gathered the heel risers don't move on regular sandals so if you really want Chaco, then I would suggest avoiding the custom option. Now I have a pair of sandals I can do nothing with, but look at. At least they look good. So disappointed.

Good for short days - by , May 16, 2016

As a lifeguard I am required to wear something like these. I do not recommend walking for more than a few hours in these cause, I dunno if it's me though, I started to get really bad chaffing on the skin under my ankle bones and the knuckle of my big toes. They are comfortable though for about 3 hours of constant wearing.

If the webbing is "rubbing you the wrong way", a little trick you can try is throwing your Chacos into the wash on a gentle cycle with towels. This can soften up the webbing if you need! Just make sure to air dry. If you have any questions, give us a shout at 888.211.1908. Thank you.
