I'm disappointed in the fit of these Chacos. The straps are too short. The buckle is on top of my foot after sizing the straps for a comfortable fit. The last pair I purchased were custom made, and the straps are longer. These strap that hold my foot and wraps around my toes needs to be about 1-2 inches longer.

I've had my Original Z1 Chacos for going on nine years now. They've been to Africa and Europe and South America, rafted rivers in Colorado and Wyoming and Utah, and climbed mountains throughout the Colorado Rockies. And when there hasn't been an adventure to be had, they've served admirably as my (nearly) every day shoe from May through September. It took years for them to show any wear and tear. There's duct tape holding the sole onto the shoe, the treads are all but gone, and the heel strap finally wore through. It's time for a new pair, but I can hardly bring myself to give up the old ones. What a shoe - I can't recommend it enough.

These chacos are very comfortable, and I really recommend them. I’ve had issues with my chacos since I’ve had them, like the bottom not being very durable and starting to fall off, and it’s very irritating when I have a nice expensive shoe that’s falling apart.

I've had over 5 pairs of chaco Z1 sandals over the past 15 years. My very first pair, in 2007, last me nearly 5 years before the soles wore out. Now a pair of chacos barely get me through a year. I wear my chacos daily from about April-October (I live in the Mid-Atlantic). In addition to my daily drivers, chacos are the best for hiking and any water activities as well. Even though I complain about the durability not being the same anymore, chacos are still hard to beat!

I wore these almost everyday this past summer serving on summer staff at a camp in MI and I'm still wearing them at the end of November in the south, because you all in the south are wimps :)
Break in time wasn't too long. At the moment, I'm guessing they have close to 1000 miles on them.
Great sandals. I bought these because I really didn't like the toe strap on the Z2. They also a lot easier to clean than the Z2s because it is one less loop to pull through. Fabric softener and a hard-bristled toothbrush will clean the footbed well and get rid of the smell too.
I bought the Bluff Hunter color.
Chaco has won me over, and I plan on buying a pair of their boots as well. I'd rather buy something that's good looking and durable than buy the $50 shoes every year.

I love Chaco's and just bought my 3rd pair. I wear them all the time - literally. They have a really long wear life and great arch support. One thing I noticed is that they changed the sole from Vibreum to something else that does not have as much traction.
