Love 'em!
By Anonymous 7/8/2014

I have slowly been moving down the weight scale with my Chacos. I started with the Unaweep, went to the Yampa, and now have these. I've always loved the fit and feel of Chacos but have always wanted a little less weight. The Rex is perfect! Light weight but still that same Chacos comfort and construction that I love. You guys have a winner with the Rex!

best and worst sandals I have ever owned
By Anonymous 6/23/2014

I bought these sandals last summer. They are both the best and the worst sandals I have ever owned. They are very comfortable and lightweight. Compared to Chaco's Z1/Z2, the sole is more flexible, and you get a lot more ground feel, which being a fan of minimalist footwear I really enjoy. I've used them as casual every day footwear, for trail running and longer distance hiking over the past year and they appeared to be holding up really well. Just last week I was looking at them while I cleaned them and thinking they would probably be good for another couple of years at least. There was a little wear on the soles, but otherwise they still looked great. ...and then over this past weekend the "d-ring" (attachment point for the webbing to the footbed) by my little toe on one sandal came off -- both the metal ring and a piece of black webbing that looks like it is normally glued inside the footbed. This happened in the middle of a 12 mile hike and kind of sucked because I had to turn around and slowly flop back to the trailhead. I'm not sure why it failed, I've been following Chaco's washing instructions, and wasn't doing anything too extreme at the time. It does not look like this style of Chacos can be repaired, unlike the Z1/Z2 line. I'm not sure if I would buy another pair in this style or if I would recommend this style to someone else. Paying $90 for sandals is fine if they are going to last a few years, not so good if you have to replace them every year. I'm going to go ahead and still give them five stars, they were great while they lasted, but just be aware they may not be as durable or as good of a value of some of Chaco's other styles.

Chaco's Reply: Our customer service can help if the 'ring' and webbing failed. Just give 'em a call at 888-211-1908 so they can set up a return.

What's a Chaconian?

You are Chaco!

Chaconians are our pride and joy! They pound pavement, trails, and waves. They teach, reach, and perform. They're people who trust their Chacos, and we're honored to support them.
