When a hiking sandal is overkill - by , Feb 03, 2020
4/ 5 Stars
I've been wearing Chacos since Alps went out of business. Maybe that was 15 years ago? Twenty? I love the heavy, clunky, high-traction sandal base. I've hiked many miles in Chacos, often in rough terrain and sometimes under a full pack. When I worked as a river guide, I and everyone I worked with wore them all the time. These new, lightweight, more streamlined sandals are a different thing. They're for times when you don't need bulletproof and maybe care a bit more about weight and appearance. It feels to me like the arch isn't quite as high and there's definitely less of a heel cup, but for wandering from my SUP up into town for a cup of coffee, they're awesome. If I do end up on rocky terrain or in stickers, the sole is firm enough, with good enough traction, to handle it, unlike a lot of "town" sandals.

These are my third pair of Z/Volvs and they are my favorite! I love how lightweight they are but still have the same support at the original.

Love the footbed - by , Jan 17, 2020

I am a fan of the Cloud sandals, but these newer Volv footbeds are equally comfortable. Wore them all day, no burning in my arches or balls of feet.

Looks great! Feels great! Way easier to take in/off than my chacos with the loop.

These shoes seem to combine the endurance Chaco is known for with a more attractive look. I just love them.

These shoes are amazing! I love that they are lighter than normal and still super comfortable! These went with me to New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, and helped me survive some rigorous hikes! They did need some breaking in but after one round of blisters I never got blisters again in them! GET THESE
