Wanted to love these! Pulls your toes apart. - by , Mar 15, 2019
1/ 5 Stars
I wanted to love these as I've been waiting years for Chaco to produce another men's backless sandal similar to the Zong they used to have. Received these today and I'm sad they will not work for me. The way the front straps are oriented pulls your toes apart between your big and second toe. I live in Chacos and other sandals with straps or posts between my toes, having something there isn't the issue, it's the fact that the straps pull my toes apart even without the straps being too tight. Not a good sensation. Saw another review also commenting on the straps pulling your toes apart, so I'm not alone in the observation. I'll keep hoping for a re-release of the Zong sandal, or a similar backless style and will be sending these back.

Expensive Knock Off - by , Jul 29, 2019
1/ 5 Stars
This footwear is a far cry from its previous version including; thinner upper strap material and a less robust buckle. As of the writing of this review there is also no repair plan for this sandal so if you like them, don’t wear them out. Otherwise you will have to purchase a new set of what might be an even more inferior product than even this version.

Not the same fit as your old Zong - by , Aug 02, 2019
1/ 5 Stars
I really loved my old Zong sandal but it was discontinued several years ago. I called a couple times to see if it was going to come back in men's sizes but never had a firm answer. When I saw the Tegu I thought it was going to be the same as the old Zong. I have now worn the Tegu for three weeks and it is just not as comfortable as the old Zong. My foot continues to slide back in the foot bed. I believe this is due to the toe straps. I am not positive, but I think the Tegu is not the same configuration as the old Zong. I would gladly buy the Zong again if you ever reintroduce it for men. I am going to stop wearing the Tegu because of the fit. The Tegu is just not the same fit as the men's Zong. Very sad.

Just didn't work... - by , Aug 27, 2019
1/ 5 Stars
I really, really wanted these to work but unfortunately they just don't. The strapping just didn't work for my feet I guess. I wore them in a few different situations (kayaking, fly fishing, creek swimming, etc.) and no matter how I adjusted the straps, they managed to come off. I have a fairly high instep and with the straps cranked down, the excess still hung to the ground which I found strange. No matter what I did to the adjustments, my foot managed to slip out of them and I was never doing anything super overly active. Contacted support and no chance of an exchange or return because they had been worn (5-6 times). Also said "I should've worn them around the house for a few hours first to be sure". Bummer. Save yourself the trouble and order something different. They look cool but not worth the hassle and when they don't work out, and then you're stuck with them...

They don’t stay tight enough - by , Sep 30, 2019

I love the look, because they don’t have an ankle strap. However, that design choice made them difficult to wear. I tried several different things to get them to work, including the instruction card that comes with them. No matter what I tried, the sandals always became loose. Also, the adjustment strap at the instep is so long that it drags on the ground. Summary: I really wanted to like them, but for me, they just didn’t work.

Bummed to hear this! There is an easy fix for that! Sometimes putting them in the washing machine to get rid of the extra slickness on the webbing will do the trick. Just be sure to let them air dry. Also, if the straps are too long, you can have them shortened by our ReChaco team. Feel free to give them a call at 888-211-9211 ext 2.

Bad Strap Design - by , May 29, 2020

I bought these after an older pair of Chacos bit the dust. The straps over the toes don't seem to be designed with a human foot in mind. The straps pull your big toe away from your other toes. I couldn't even wear them around the house. I would avoid these at all costs. Very disappointing.

you changed the strap between the toes - by , Jun 12, 2020

I loved my old shoes, but my puppy also loved them and chewed the strap. I was relieved to find the shoe and immediately bought them. Trying to wear them is impossible due to the change you made to the strap between the toes. Instead of a single slim strap there are now two straps, which is one strap too many. It rubs my toe and is very uncomfortable no matter how I adjust it. I have tried everything I can think of and currently have a bandaid holding the two pieces together which is not working. I love the shoe for the support and the ease of getting it on my foot, but the toe strap makes it impossible for me to wear. I wish the company would bring back the original shoe....please!!

Cheap materials, can’t get it to fit well. Adjustable piece is cheap plastic that does not hold the straps. Don’t even wear these, foo late to return :(

Not a pleasurable fit - by , Sep 28, 2020

I generally never review items but I thought I would share my experience. I am also a long time chaco wearer. The shoes rubbed my toes raw between my toes. I was only able to wear them for 4 days and finally gave up. I returned them. I thought they might be similar to an old pair of Chacos that I wish they still made.

Please bring back Zong! - by , Aug 16, 2019

My 20 year old Zong straps are finally wearing out and needed replacing. I tried to find them here but the closest match was the Tegu. I Have been wearing them for a couple of weeks and am disappointed. The two straps going between my big and second toe is not comfortable and they are difficult to slip into. I actually find myself going back to my Zongs even though they are about to fall apart rather than fighting to get into the Tegus. PLEASE PLEASE bring back the Zongs for men!
