Kayaking through the storm on Florida's Peace River

After half-heartedly signing up for an 8 mile kayak trip on Florida's Peace River, (which is supposed to be very pleasant, alligator free, and an easy ride,) we found ourselves caught in the middle of the side effects of a tropical storm. The rain was NO JOKE and Florida's bipolar weather found us trapped in a minimum of 10 different storms over the course of these 8 miles. The water was 6 feet higher than normal, and the current was MUCH faster than normal. Florida is also home to MANY alligators, and to our dismay, MANY had decided to ride downstream with us. Credit in part to a waterproof phone sleeve, and the fact that Mother Nature became pleasant for 5 minutes, I was able to take this picture of seemingly fair skies. It rained right after. I couldn't have taken this trip without my three main companions, my family, the alligator species (who I am now well acquainted with), and my Chacos.
