1. You can walk for weeks on end without pain in these. 2. They look awesome. 3. Sick tan lines are acquired from them. 4. The toe strap helps keep you in place, so you don't slide around. 5. Amazing arch support!

Not great for folks with flatter feet
By Jesse 5/3/2011

Most Helpful Critical Review

We bought these and hoped they'd be great for hiking after backpacking all day. I found the double strap frustrating to put on, because the double straps around the toe took a lot of effort to put on. My feet slipped quite a bit in the humid environment of the southeast mountains, and although the sole is the right size for my foot (size 9), the heel strap is not adjustable...which was a problem for me, because after my other straps were adjusted, it was loose off the back of my heel and I couldn't sinch it down....selling them because I just couldn't make them comfortable on my flatter feet.

I will never purchase another sandal
By ceemay06 7/28/2014

I have to admit, I was skeptical about spending so much money on a pair of sandals. To me, shoes are a practical necessity and not a frivolous expense, and spending this much money on one pair seemed to be a frivolous expense. I believe my exact words were, 'There is no way I am spending that much money on a pair of sandals'. I work as a Naturalist, so I am always hiking, and during the summer I needed a pair of hiking sandals. I had tried Tevas and they rubbed a big blister on my heel, and they weren't exactly cheap, so I was searching for a new sandal that wouldn't rub blisters. I came across a huge Chaco shipment in a discount shoe store one day and decided to try them on and see what the hype was about. I tried one on, and it was like a million angel feathers surrounding my feet. I uttered the words, 'I'm about to spend this much money on a pair of sandals', screamed 'Take my money!' at the store clerk and ran home with my Chacos. I have worn them nearly daily since. First, it's a big deal to spend that much money on shoes for me, as I'm a single mom on a very fixed income. But they were so comfortable, and they were on sale, so there was absolutely no way I could pass it up. Second, I have had 2 ankle reconstructions and since about 1997 I have not been able to make a complete step where I step with my heel and actually move my foot so that every part of it, from the arch to the ball to the toes touches the ground due to pain...I can take a complete step in the Chacos. Further, I would always have ankle pain at the end of the day, but not with the Chacos. THAT is a HUGE deal for me. Ever since I bought them, I have been forcing people to try on my shoes...I know that sounds weird, but it is only my close friends and family. I have now converted a lot of people over to Chacos who, like me, were non-believers. I am currently saving up to buy a pair of the boots because if these sandals feel so good, I can imagine the boots and hikers will feel just as amazing. The only complaint I have is that they don't come in half sizes. I wear a 9.5 and was told to go down a size, which would have been fine if I was okay with my toe hanging off the end of the shoe. I went up to a 10 and it fit perfect on the toe, but there's a little extra room on the back, so the non-adjustable heel strap kind of flaps around sometimes. But I'll take that, as these are hands-down the most comfortable shoes I have ever strapped to my feet.
