The ideal for my very archy feet
By Anonymous 11/13/2014

Most Helpful Positive Review

Because of my exaggerated arches, I need shoes with a Himalayan arch support. I usually pile in the after-market supports and insoles to get what I need. My Tevas and Merrells just don't do it for me. But my Chacos do. My arches are fully supported all day. That said, I'm not wild about the waffle-weave insole, which is somewhat harsh on my feet. Also, the place I bought them only carried the Unaweep style, with the heavily lugged soles. I'm older and not that active, so I don't really need all that heavy-duty construction. The Yampas would have been fine for me, and lighter on my feet. These are sort of heavy. So my advice is to try them on before you buy. The Yampa style has some tread on the bottom, enough for my kind of every-day wear. If you're really active as a hiker, though, the Unaweep probably works best for you.

Try Before You Buy
By jstustin 5/7/2014

Most Helpful Critical Review

I had heard so many great things about chacos that I decided to give them a try. I wanted the extra security of the toe strap for hiking and other activities. I am usually a 7- 7.5 so I purchased a 7 online. I was so excited to take them for a trial run, I went on a long walk to run some errands. The foot bed was the right length, however the toe strap dug in between my toes no matter how loose I made it and actually caused the toe on my left foot to go numb for a couple weeks (after repeated wear trying to work out the kinks). Once I realized they were the wrong size it was too late to return them as it was clear that I had worn them. I eventually flattened out the toe strap and wear them that way, fairly comfortably, but I really wish I had tried them on in store. They are great shoes and have held up well over the past three years, despite the weird way they fit my foot.

Excellent quality, long lasting
By Anonymous 7/3/2015

I purchased these (or perhaps the earlier version of these? they look nearly identical except mine doesn't have the chaco logo on the side like is pictured here) in-store in 2006 just before leaving for a 6-month backpacking trip. On that trip I wore these sandals everyday, walked countless miles in them, and 9 years later I'm still wearing them every summer! They're still in excellent condition, and extremely comfortable. I love how easily they can be adjusted, which comes in very useful because my feet tend to swell up a bit in extreme heat, so I just loosen the straps temporarily for a more comfortable fit. Highly recommended!

Chaco's Reply: Thanks for the amazing feedback! 9 years and still going strong!
